Just for Fun -- Charts from GraphJam.com

|

These blog posts usually deal with some weighty (and hopefully thought-provoking) issues relating to animal protection, but this one is really just for fun. The good folks at GraphJam.com have collected some interesting graphics depicting some inane observations about popular culture. Only a handful of the charts on GraphJam.com relate to animals, but if you’re a music lover, you won’t be disappointed with some of the clever line graphs and pie charts. Here’s a personal favorite, for my fellow numbers enthusiasts:

And one for my fellow cat lovers:

Here's another one for cat people, slightly more graphic in nature, called "What I Imagine My Cat Is Doing When I’m At Work"

And lastly, for all you Kung Fu Panda watchers, check out "Chances the Human Race has of Surviving a Revolt from the Animal Kingdom.”

Finally, while on the topic of fun with charts, I recommend checking out swivel.com. It's a free website that allows users to explore, compare, upload, and share data in a visually appealing, graphical format. Users can search through a broad range of graphs or data sets previously created or uploaded by other users (search on “animals” and you’ll get nearly 200 hits). You can also upload new data to share and even import the charts that you create into web pages and blogs. Check it out at swivel.com; as always, however, use some caution and be sure to validate any information that you intend to use for animal advocacy purposes.
